I’m a professional writer, but I’m also an experienced editor. I’ve worked as an editor for a wide variety of outlets, from a digital travel publication to an independent book publisher. My favorite part of being an editor is working with so many talented writers from around the globe. I love finding and developing new talent, as well as partnering with writers who are experts in their craft.
My editing experience includes:
Go World Travel Magazine
2007 to Present
I am currently the managing editor at Go World Travel Magazine, a digital publication for world travelers. Go World covers travel in more than 90 countries around the globe, which means I have worked with more than 350 writers from around the world.
In addition to writing and editing, I manage our editorial team, ensure accuracy in content, optimize content for SEO, ensure quality images, and work with our brand partners.
Along with our editorial team, I input and publish our content on a custom WordPress platform, and then help promote it on social media. When I have a free moment, I work on recruiting new writers, and I’ve overseen the development of three new WordPress sites.
Although I started off my career as print journalist, I like the immediacy and broad reach that online publishing offers. I enjoy working in the online world.
I was a contract editor on AOL Travel’s City Guide project, which created 15,000 words of content on the top 25 destinations in the United States. My work included managing a team of freelance writers, writing and editing content per AOL’s editorial and SEO guidelines, managing fact-checkers and working with the editorial team. I also served as a contract writer and travel blogger, writing features for AOL Travel.
World Traveler Press
I served as a lead editor in the World Traveler Press Anthology series, which included:
A Pink Suitcase: 22 Tales of Women’s Travel
Adventures of a Lifetime: Travel Tales from Around the World
Chance Encounters: Travel Tales from Around the World
I managed a small editorial team, and then worked with anthology contributors. Our editorial team reviewed hundreds of submissions, and then I selected 22 final submissions for each book. I worked with each writer, polishing the pieces until they were ready for publication. My work also involved recruiting possible writers, working with cover designers, doing PR interviews and working with distributors.
Contract Editing Work
Like many writers and editors, I offer contract services to a wide variety of clients, including organizations in the tourism, technology and healthcare verticals. I have written and edited many types of content, including blogs, white papers, newsletters, video scripts, advertising, branded content, native advertising, website content and much more.
